There’s nothing quite like camp in the Pacific Northwest — the towering evergreen trees, crisp morning air, worship echoing across the lake, and that sacred mix of exhaustion and excitement that only comes from a week away with students. I attended camp as a kid. Later, I led at camp as a youth pastor. And now, I’ve have the privilege of speaking at camps.
Each season has reminded me of the same truth: something powerful happens when we get away.
Camp has a way of stripping things down to what really matters. It creates space for students to hear God’s voice, often for the first time.
There’s something about stepping out of routine, unplugging from distractions, and finding God in the middle of His creation. Add in loving staff and volunteers who give up vacation time to invest in students, and you’ve got a recipe for transformation.
I’ve watched students surrender to Christ, sense a call to ministry, reconcile broken friendships, and experience freedom — all because they were willing to get away so God could get their attention.

And when they return home, they’re different — because they met with Him.
